Since 2005, Gabe BC has been creating interactive and time-based, multi-media sculptures focusing on our ubiquitous relationship to media and technology. In this new collection of work, BC turns his attention to the growing interrelationship between technology, culture, and the natural world, employing AI as a collaborative partner in exploring the symbols and imagery of modern living. While Vigil showcases a veritable survey of humanity’s symbols and icons, with looks ranging from cave paintings to animated gifs, Paradise portrays Adam and Eve as two vulnerable figures whose intimacy is filtered through the isolation of cell phone communication.

In his two Ecstasy pieces, BC places video montages of humans and animals inside bell jars, putting collections of AI-generated images into context as objects of curiosity and/or significance. Mother and Child and Annunciation, housed in traditional Mexican nicho boxes framed in neon, each explore the type of ecstatic imagery featured in iconic, religion- inspired paintings.

Natural Selection is a ten-minute video loop of morphing plant life, also encased in glass, while the prints in BCs Unnatural Historyseries illustrate a new evolution where biological materials and communication devices merge into one. In addition to the framed prints on view, he offers five additional prints, available either framed or unframed.
